There may be a town called Santa Catalina, but the one in this book is the creation of the author. What is real and happens all over the world is the problem of dogs living on the street. They, like human beings, suffer and their life is a bit similar to the homeless people. This is not a beautiful picture and many turn to look the other way as if not looking would avoid feelings of remorse for not trying to help them.

Illegals is a novel about a subject that has always been very polemic. The author creates the characters trying to make them look real and human. They are all bonded by one same common situation: forgers of documents, a good lawyer, the coyotes and an immigration agent as well as the different reasons for them to be illegals, a struggle which brings them together until the end of the book.

En este libro la escritora presenta una síntesis de uno de los muchos accidentes causados por la persona que es alcohólica, y no puede controlarse. Laura Lavayen trata con este libro presentar un caso ficticio pero muy real. Algo que vemos u oímos muy a menudo. Y no fue difícil crear los personajes.

Tal vez haya ms de una ciudad llamada Santa Catalina, pero lo de ste libro es creacin de la autora. Lo que si es real y ocurre en todo el mundo es el problema de los perros que viven en la calle. Ellos, como los seres humanos, sufren y su vida se parece un poco a la de las personas que no tienen un hogar. No presentan un cuadro hermoso y muchos al toprselos giran la vista a otro lado, como si el no mirarlos les evitara sentir remordimientos, por no intentar ayudarlos.

Es una historia de los sinsabores que trae la vida cuando se es pobre y ambicioso, pero esa pobreza no permite luchar para encontrar un camino para huir de ella.
